People make a huge mess when they come there. Luckily the state has people who clean it well. No lifeguard. People drinking and smoking pot. You definitely need to watch your kid closely. Sand mixed with rocks and patches of dirt and grass. Outhouses... no real restrooms or changing areas. Water is pretty clear. Gets crowded but not to bad.
It's a pretty lake with a boat ramp and a swim beach, but that's about it. I went to try to do some fishing from the shore, but there is absolutely nowhere to fish without being in the way of boaters or bothering swimmers. For my purposes, it was not a good visit. If you're there with a boat or to swim, it seems like it would be great. It wasn't very busy this Labor Day weekend, but there is ample parking if it does get busy. There are also plenty of porta-johns which seemed clean enough.
Good place for fishing and kayaking. Green area seemed spacious and well maintained.
Minnie island is a short trip from the boat launch. It is not super easy to get on to the island but if you go to the North side where the sign is there is a steep trail and some rocks that make it easier to get on. At the top of the island there are some nice rocks and flat ground for sitting. However, there are a lot of bugs.
Very Clean, respectful. Comfortable Environment, Safe
It's good just wish it was bigger had sand and more shade. But is not bad. When the weather is nice the water is warmer than the ocean and not salty. Also sunset are nice here.
There's no lifeguard, so u can bring ur toys here. Also you can use boats and go around the lake if you wish too.
Nice little get a way.. pulled off to have my lunch and look off at the lake . Also a nice place to try out your luck at the awesome fishing that awaits, with a large array of different types of 🐟 🐠 🎣 🐡.. and last but not least there's a great boat launch 😀 😉 😊. Its handicap access as well 😀. This time of year it's nice and peaceful. Mid summer it gets very very busy, expected on the weekend's.. come enjoy some of Connecticuts hidden jems.
We live only a few minutes from here and have stopped coming. This could be a really nice spot but unfortunately is turned into a party spot that's trashed most of the time. Out of all the public waterfront/oceanfront places in our state I've been to, im not sure why this one is such a mess. Maybe the state needs to implement some patrols here.
Garbage everywhere on the beach, lots of rowdy partying with alcohol and pot. A couple years ago some people threw one of the port a potty into the lake. Lots of jets skis zooming around at the boat launch disregarding the no wake zone even when you are actively trying to launch a boat.
Had a great time on fathers day with our best friends and their family and ours also, tons of fun!
Tubbing, swimming , so having fun and grilled hot dogs and hamburgers right off the side of the boat. Kids has fun time and even the adults as well.tubbing and smimming and it was not over loaded like the beach!
Tons of fun for everyone, not crowded .
Recommended from my experience!
Thank you,
Danielle B.
